Peter LaBerge is a poet, writer, and editor. In 2010, Peter founded The Adroit Journal, a literary publication that has since featured forty-five issues of writing and art selected from 100,000 submissions. His work has received a Pushcart Prize and has appeared in AGNI, American Poetry Review, Best New Poets, Kenyon Review, New England Review, and elsewhere. Featured from Teen Vogue to TED to Poets & Writers, Peter graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received his MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from New York University as a Writers in the Public Schools Fellow. Currently, Peter lives in Philadelphia, where he runs an online creative writing and college advising company called Ellipsis Writing.
The Whole Story.
Peter LaBerge grew up in Connecticut, where he took an interest in poetry after contributing to his high school’s literary magazine during his freshman year. As a sophomore, Peter founded The Adroit Journal, an online literary publication for emerging and established writers. Shortly after graduating from high school in 2013, Peter founded the Adroit Journal Summer Mentorship Program, a renowned online summer writing program that pairs high school writers with established writers.
As an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, Peter released the chapbooks Makeshift Cathedral (YesYes Books) and Hook (Sibling Rivalry Press) and had the great fortune of studying with Gregory Djanikian, Al Filreis, and Beth Kephart, among many other mentors. Peter also received a fellowship from Bucknell University’s Seminar for Undergraduate Poets, where he studied with G.C. Waldrep, Dana Levin, and Mary Szybist. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017, with his B.A. in English & Consumer Psychology.
Peter’s work has since received a Pushcart Prize for Poetry and has appeared in AGNI, American Poetry Review, Best New Poets, Kenyon Review, New England Review, Pleiades, and Tin House, among others. Following graduation, he worked in San Francisco’s Silicon Valley as a content marketing professional.
His latest initiative is Ellipsis Writing, an award-winning online high school writing, tutoring, and college advising business. He recently completed his MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) as a Writers in the Public Schools Fellow at New York University and currently lives in Philadelphia.
